PROJECTS INFORMATION and Status

GENERAL:
There were several preparatory works have been completed during developing projects. Some of the key works have been listed for the references as below:

  • The Power Purchase Agreement for the two projects has been signed with NEA.
  • Generation Licenses for both the projects has been received from the Ministry of Energy for a period of 35 years.
  • Registration in the Department of Industry (DoI) for both the projects has been completed.
  • Approval for Tree Cutting has been obtained from the GoN, Department of Forest
  • Construction of five pre-fabricated houses at Thambuchet and two pre-fabricated houses at Tetanchet has been completed.
  • Construction of Camps and Offices for Project Staffs at Thambuchet has been completed
  • Construction of dedicated 11 kV transmission line (9 km) from Chilime Power Plant to the project site Thambuchet has been completed.
  • Extension and strengthening of 11 kV line (10 km) for construction power lines up to Tilocheheadworks and to construction-adits and surge tank has been completed.
  • Contract Agreement for the Construction of Lot 2 Civil Works of Sanjen (Upper) Hydroelectric Project was signed with M/S ECI BGCCPL J/V in 25 November 2012 and the Contractor has commenced the Works since February 14, 2013.
  • Contract Agreement for the Construction of Lot 2 Civil Works of Sanjen Hydroelectric Project has been signed with M/S SEW TUNDI J/V in 05 March 2013 and the Contractor has commenced the Works since May 11, 2013
  • Contract Agreement for Lot 3 Electromechanical Works of both Sanjen (Upper) and Sanjen Hydroelectric Projects with the same Contractor with different packages has been signed onn 04 September 2013 with M/S Dongfang Electric International, China and the Contractor has commenced the Works since November 06, 2013.
  • Contract Agreement for Lot 4 Hydromechanical Works of Sanjen (Upper) and Sanjen Hydroelectric Projects with the same Contractor with different packages has been signed in 23 September 2013 with M/S Nepal Hydro & Electric Limited, Nepal and the Contractor has commenced the Works since October 17, 2013.
  • Contract Agreement for Lot 5 Transmission Lines Works for bothSanjen (Upper) and Sanjen Hydroelectric Projects in a single package has been signed with M/S Mudabhary and Joshi Pvt. Co. Limited, Nepal in 30 May 2017.

    Lot1 Infrastructure Works
    All the infrastructural works including access road to project site and approach to the main working fronts, the camp facilities for the Employer, construction power lines with different packages have been implemented under this packages. Almost all of the works under this packages have been completed.


    Lot 2: Civil Works-SUHEP
    The overall Civil Works progress is about 60 %. The Construction of the diversion weir is completed and 95% of the civil works for the intake is also completed. The construction of Gravel Trap, Desanderare in the final stage and the construction of Bypasss Canal is completed. Also 50% of the construction of forebay has already finished and the preparation work for the embankment of peaking pond is also underway. The excavation work for the Headrace tunnel and the horizontal section of penstock tunnel is completed and the excavation of the first vertical section of the penstock is completed and the excavating of the 2nd vertical section is ongoing. Thus, out of 106.72m vertical shaft in Penstock tunnel 74.55m length has been already excavated. The final support work in the Headrace tunnel has also started. The contractor has started the preparation work for the powerhouse excavation and the slope stabilization work.

    Lot2:Civil Works-SUHEP
    The overall Civil Works progress is about 50%. And the following major works were completed till date.
  • 75% of work under Chhupchung Diversion and feeder system has been completed.
  • 30% of work in Forebay and connection pipe has been completed
  • 90% of inlet portal preparation work is completed.
  • 517.59m (100%) Adit tunnels excavation work completed
  • Out of total 3635.19 m HRT length 1570m i.e 43% length excavation work has been completed.
  • Total 86.5m (100%) Aeration tunnel and 50.19m (100%) length excess tunnel to valve chamber excavation work has been completed.
  • 635.68m length Penstock tunnel out of total 939.31m has been excavated
  • Overall Progress in tunnel excavation work is 54% out of total length 5,284.27m.
  • 24% of the powerhouse work has been completed.
  • Lot 3: Electromechanical Works-SUHEP
    The overall Civil Works progress is about 45%. And the following works were completed till date. Manufacture of major components of Electro -mechanical works are completed and are ready for delivery to site and some of the components are already dispatched to the site. The current status of the electromechanical works are described below:


  • Turbine, Generator, Energy Dissipating Valve, Main Inlet Valve, Main Transformer and HV Switchyard Equipment (Circuit Breaker, Disconnecting Switches, Lightning arrester and other Accessories)
  • Design of Grounding layouts completed and partial installation of grounding mat is also completed.
  • Design and Manufacture of other electromechanical Equipment like Protection System, Control System, 11 kV Switchgear, 400 V Switchgear and Ancillary Equipment are in progress.
  • Design of Powerhouse Layout is completed and currently powerhouse construction is underway
  • Lot 3: Electromechanical Works -SHEP:

    Overall progress of this Lot is around 49%. Among the major works, manufacture of major components of Electro -mechanical works are completed and are ready for delivery to site and some of the components are already dispatched to the site. The current status of the electromechanical works are described below:

  • Manufacture of following Major Electromechanical Equipment have been completed and are ready for delivery or partially delivered to the Site.Turbine, Generator, Main Inlet Valve, Main Transformer and HV Switchyard Equipment (Circuit Breaker, Disconnecting Switches, Lightning arrester and other Accessories)
  • Design of Grounding layouts completed and Installation of grounding mat under powerhouse has been completed.
  • Design and Manufacture of other electromechanical Equipment like Protection System, Control System, 11 kV Switchgear, 400 V Switchgear and Ancillary Equipment are in progress.
  • Design of Powerhouse Layout has been completed and currently powerhouse construction is underway.
  • Lot 4: Hydro mechanical Works-SUHEP The overall Civil Works progress is about 50%. The following major works and the progress status of the manufacturing of the hydro mechanical components and its installation is described below:


  • All Gates (15 sets) are delivered to site after shop inspection.
  • Erection of second stage embedded parts of Undersluice Gate and Stoplog completed
  • All Stoplogs (7 sets) are delivered to site after shop inspection.
  • All Trashracks (2 Sets) are delivered to site and the inspection of the trashrack cleaning machine is completed and ready to deliver at site.
  • The final design of the Penstock Pipes is approved and 265 m length of penstock pipe is already delivered to site.
  • Design of dam site electrification has already approved.
  • The installation of hydro mechanical components in the Headworks area are underway
  • Lot 4: Hydro mechanical Works-SHEP
    Overall progress of this Lot is around 41%. The progress status of the manufacturing of the hydro mechanical components and its installation is described below:


  • All Gates (5 sets) are delivered to site after shop inspection.
  • All Trashracks (2 Sets) are delivered to site after shop inspection
  • Design of Penstock for buried section has approved and 295 m (out of 1100 m) length of penstock pipe has delivered to site after shop inspection.
  • All Steel syphon pipe with bellmouth (120 m) has delivered to site after shop inspection.
  • Erection of syphon pipe approx. 30 m at site.
  • Lot 5: Transmission Lines Works :
    The transmission lines for both projects has been considered in single packages. It consist of around 6 km long 132 KV single circuit transmission line from SUHEP powerhouse to Chilime Hub and also 132 KV double circuit line from SHEP powerhouse will be connected to the same line uptoChilime Hub. For this packages contract has been already concluded. Now, the detail survey work, soil investigation has been completed and design related work is ongoing.
